Revision Objectives

• Remember the letter "m" and its sound /m/
• Say the words monkey, mango, moon, motorcycle and mug
• Repeat the sentence "Monkey is sitting on the mango tree."
• Trace the letter "m" correctly: down, back up, hump, hump

Revision Activity 1: Monkey on the Tree

Time: 6 minutes

• Learners crouch like monkeys
• The teacher says "Monkey is sitting on the mango tree." Learners pretend to climb up and sit on a branch
• The teacher says "mango!" Learners reach up and pick a pretend mango, then say "mmm, yummy!"
• Repeat, letting a learner say the sentence as the leader

Revision Activity 2: Picture Card Parade

Time: 7 minutes

• Give out the picture cards: monkey, mango, moon, motorcycle, mug
• Learners with cards stand in a line. Each says the word and does an action:
  • monkey -- scratch like a monkey
  • mango -- pretend to eat
  • moon -- make a round shape with arms
  • motorcycle -- "brmm, brmm!"
  • mug -- pretend to sip
• Swap cards and repeat

Revision Activity 3: Mountain Stretch

Time: 5 minutes

• Repeat the Little Innovators activity: show high mountains
• Learners stretch up tall like the peaks and say "mountains!"
• Then crouch low and say "mmm"
• Up and down five times

Revision Activity 4: m Hunt and Line-Up

Time: 6 minutes

• Repeat the Little Thinkers activity
• Learners find things in the room that begin with /m/ (for example a mug or a mat)
• Line them up, count them together, and say which one is biggest

Revision Activity 5: Monkey Hills Tracing

Time: 6 minutes

• Draw a giant "m" in the air: "Start in the middle. Down. Back up. Hump. Hump."
• Call the humps "monkey hills" and let a toy monkey or finger "walk" over them
• Trace one row of dotted "m" letters on a practice sheet with a pencil
