Revision Objectives

• Remember the letter name "n" and the sound /n/
• Say the page words again: newspaper, nuts, noodles, nurse, notebook
• Repeat the sentence: "Uncle is reading newspaper and eating nuts"
• Practise the "n" stroke: down, up, over the hill, down

Revision Activity 1: Sound Wake-Up

Time: 5 minutes

• Children sit in a circle and pretend to be asleep
• The teacher whispers "/n/" and the children wake up slowly
• Each time the teacher says the sound louder, children stand a little taller
• Finish with everyone saying: "n says /n/!"

Revision Activity 2: Picture Hunt

Time: 5 minutes

• Place the five picture cards around the room: newspaper, nuts, noodles, nurse, notebook
• Say a word; children walk (not run) to the correct card and touch it
• Then hold up a card and children say the word together
• Stretch the first sound each time: "nnn-nurse"

Revision Activity 3: Act the Sentence

Time: 5 minutes

• Say the sentence from page 40: "Uncle is reading newspaper and eating nuts"
• Children act it out: open a pretend newspaper, then pretend to eat nuts
• Say it slowly again, and children join in with the words they remember
• Let two volunteers be "Uncle" at the front

Revision Activity 4: Sky Writing and Tracing

Time: 10 minutes

• Children draw a giant "n" in the air with their pointing finger
• Say the stroke together: "Start at the top. Down. Up. Over the hill. Down."
• Draw "n" on a partner's back
• Give each child a sheet with three large dotted "n" letters and a red start dot
• Children trace with a crayon. Accept every attempt with praise

Revision Activity 5: Yes or No Sound Game

Time: 5 minutes

• Say a word. If it starts with /n/, children touch their nose. If not, they keep hands in their lap
• Use page words for "yes": newspaper, nuts, noodles, nurse, notebook
• Use words from earlier lessons for "no" (for example, a word from the letter m page)
• Keep it quick and cheerful

Revision Activity 6: Colour and Say

Time: 5 minutes

• Children colour the notebook picture on page 41 if not yet finished
• As they colour, walk around and ask: "What is it? What sound does it start with?"
