Revision Objectives

• Remember the letter "l" and its sound /l/
• Say the words lion, ladybug, lamp and lake
• Repeat the sentence "The boy is looking at the lion in the zoo."
• Trace the letter "l" correctly: one long line from top to bottom
• Tell the letter "l" apart from the letter "i"

Revision Activity 1: Zoo Walk

Time: 6 minutes

• Learners walk in a line around the room like visiting a zoo
• The teacher holds up the lion card. Learners stop, make binoculars with their hands and say "The boy is looking at the lion in the zoo."
• Then everyone gives a soft "roar" and says "lion!"
• Repeat two or three times

Revision Activity 2: Light On, Light Off

Time: 5 minutes

• Repeat the Little Innovators activity
• Switch the classroom light on: learners stretch up tall and say "light!"
• Switch the light off: learners curl up small and say "dark!"
• Switch faster and faster

Revision Activity 3: Picture Card Pond

Time: 7 minutes

• Put a blue cloth on the floor as a "lake"
• Place the picture cards around it: lion, ladybug, lamp, lake
• A learner "fishes" out a card, shows it and says the word; everyone repeats
• Ask: "Does it start with l?" Everyone says "Yes!"

Revision Activity 4: Tall l, Dotty i

Time: 6 minutes

• Hold up the "l" card: learners stand up tall and straight and say "l!"
• Hold up the "i" card: learners crouch and pat their head for the dot and say "i!"
• Mix the cards quickly
• This helps learners remember that "l" is tall with no dot

Revision Activity 5: Long Line Tracing

Time: 6 minutes

• Draw a giant "l" in the air: "Start at the top. One long line down. Stop!"
• Draw "l" on a partner's back very gently
• Trace one row of dotted "l" letters on a practice sheet with a pencil
• Check that every line starts at the top
