Revision Objectives

• Recognise the letter "x" and say its name
• Hear the /ks/ sound at the end of "box"
• Recall the words x-ray, xylophone, xerus and Xebec
• Repeat the speech-bubble sentence
• Practise the two slanting lines for tracing "x"

Revision Activity 1: Make an X

Time: 5 minutes

• Learners stand up and cross their arms over their chests to make an "x"
• Now cross two fingers, then cross two pencils, then cross their legs while sitting
• Each time they make an "x", they say "x!"
• Finish by saying "box" together and stretching the /ks/ at the end

Revision Activity 2: Picture Parade

Time: 5 minutes

• Hold up the picture cards: x-ray, xylophone, xerus, Xebec
• Learners say each word after you
• Give an action for each:
  • x-ray: hold up hands like looking at a film
  • xylophone: tap pretend bars
  • xerus: make little squirrel paws
  • Xebec: rock side to side like a ship
• Say a word; learners do the action

Revision Activity 3: Big Picture Talk

Time: 5 minutes

• Open page 66 and look at the big picture together
• Ask pointing questions:
  1. "Where is Ahmed?"
  2. "What is Ahmed playing?"
  3. "What is the doctor showing?"
• Say the speech bubble together: "Ahmed is playing the xylophone and watching the x-ray."
• Learners pretend to tap a xylophone as they say it

Revision Activity 4: Air and Pencil Tracing

Time: 10 minutes

• Draw a giant "x" in the air together: slide down from the top left, lift, slide down from the top right
• Learners draw "x" with a finger on the table and in a sand tray
• Hand out a sheet with large dotted "x" letters, each with a red starting dot
• Learners trace with a crayon, starting at the dot
• Check pencil grip and praise every try

Revision Activity 5: Xylophone Colours

Time: 5 minutes

• Show the xylophone on page 67 or a toy xylophone
• Count the bars together
• Learners name a colour for each bar, working from left to right
• If you have a toy xylophone, let each learner tap one bar and say "xylophone"

Revision Activity 6: Playdough Box

Time: 5 minutes (optional)

• Learners press out four flat playdough walls and one base
• Help them stand the walls up to make a box
• Say "box" together and listen for /ks/ at the end
