Revision Objectives

• Recognise the letter "w" and say its sound /w/
• Recall the words well, watermelon, window and whale
• Repeat the speech-bubble sentence
• Practise the down, up, down, up movement for tracing "w"

Revision Activity 1: Wave for W

Time: 5 minutes

• Sit the learners in a circle
• Say the lesson words one by one: well, watermelon, window, whale
• Learners wave both hands and say /w/ each time
• Now mix in one or two words from earlier letters; learners wave only for the "w" words
• Praise good listening with a big clap

Revision Activity 2: Picture Hunt

Time: 5 minutes

• Place the picture cards (well, watermelon, window, whale) around the room
• Call out a word; one learner walks to the picture and holds it up
• The whole group says the word together
• Then reverse: hold up a picture and learners call out the word

Revision Activity 3: Big Picture Talk

Time: 5 minutes

• Open page 64 and look at the big picture together
• Ask pointing questions:
  1. "Where is the girl?"
  2. "Where is the well?"
  3. "How many watermelons can you see?" Count a few together
• Say the speech bubble together: "The girl is sitting near the well and watermelons."
• Let learners pretend to sit like the girl and hold a bucket as they say it

Revision Activity 4: Air, Sand and Pencil Tracing

Time: 10 minutes

• Draw a giant "w" in the air together, chanting "down, up, down, up"
• Let learners draw "w" with a finger on the table, on a friend's back, or in a sand tray
• Hand out a sheet with large dotted "w" letters, each with a red starting dot
• Learners trace with a crayon, starting at the dot
• Check pencil grip and praise every try

Revision Activity 5: Window Count

Time: 5 minutes

• Count the windows in the room together again
• Count the doors together
• Ask: "More windows or more doors?"
• Finish by pointing to a window and saying "window, /w/ /w/ window"

Revision Activity 6: Watermelon Dough

Time: 5 minutes (optional)

• Give each learner green playdough to roll into a ball
• Help them cut it in half and press little dots inside for seeds
• Each learner holds up the model and says "watermelon"
