Revision Objectives

• Reinforce the name and sound of the letter "v"
• Recall the words van, valley, vacuum, violin and vase
• Practise the speech-bubble sentence orally
• Strengthen tracing of the letter "v" from the red dot

Revision Activity 1: Van Drive

Time: 5 minutes

• Learners hold imaginary steering wheels
• They drive slowly round the room buzzing "vvvvv"
• When the teacher says "valley", everyone crouches down low
• When the teacher says "van", everyone stands and drives again

Revision Activity 2: Picture Card Point

Time: 8 minutes

• Place the picture cards van, valley, vacuum, violin and vase on the floor
• Teacher says a word; one learner points to or sits beside the card
• Reverse: teacher points to a card, the class says the word
• Add actions:
  • van -- drive
  • valley -- arms make hills, point to the low middle
  • vacuum -- push and buzz
  • violin -- play under your chin
  • vase -- hold carefully with two hands

Revision Activity 3: Van Sentence

Time: 5 minutes

• Show page 62 and point to the speech bubble
• Say: "The blue van is in the beautiful valley."
• Learners echo the sentence in three parts
• Ask:
  1. What is in the valley? (the van)
  2. Where is the van? (in the valley)
  3. Is the valley beautiful? (yes)

Revision Activity 4: Tracing Practice

Time: 8 minutes

• Draw a big "v" on the board with a red dot at the top left
• Learners trace "v" in the air: slide down, slide up
• Give each learner a sheet with large dotted "v" letters
• Learners trace with a crayon first, then with a pencil
• Teacher checks the starting dot and the pencil grip

Revision Activity 5: Five Vans

Time: 4 minutes

• Linked to the Little Thinkers activity on page 62
• Line up five toy vans (or five van picture cards)
• Learners point to the first van and the last van
• Count all five together, buzzing "/v/" after the count
