Revision Objectives

• Remember the letter name "p" and the sound /p/
• Say the page words again: parrot, pear, panda, peach, pencil
• Repeat the sentence: "The parrot is eating a delicious pear"
• Practise the "p" stroke: down, back up, round tummy

Revision Activity 1: Puff the Feather

Time: 5 minutes

• Hold a feather or small tissue in front of your mouth
• Say "/p/" and watch it move
• Children put a hand in front of their mouth and feel the puff
• Everyone says: "p says /p/!"

Revision Activity 2: Parrot Says

Time: 5 minutes

• The teacher is the parrot. Children copy everything the parrot says
• "Parrot says pear!" Children repeat: "pear!"
• "Parrot says panda!" Children repeat: "panda!"
• Continue with peach, pencil and parrot
• Children flap their arms after each word

Revision Activity 3: Picture Hunt

Time: 5 minutes

• Place the five picture cards around the room: parrot, pear, panda, peach, pencil
• Say a word; children walk to the correct card and touch it
• Then hold up a card and children say the word together
• Puff the first sound each time: "p-p-panda"

Revision Activity 4: Circle the p Pictures

Time: 5 minutes

• Use reinforcement page 46: "Circle every picture that begins with p"
• Say each picture name aloud with the children
• Children put a finger on the pictures that start with /p/ (panda, pencil, peach), then circle them with a crayon
• Adult helps with the crayon if needed

Revision Activity 5: Tracing Practice

Time: 10 minutes

• Children draw a giant "p" in the air
• Say the stroke together: "Start at the top. Down, past the line. Back up. Round tummy."
• Give each child a sheet with three large dotted "p" letters and a red start dot
• Children trace with a crayon. Accept every attempt with praise

Revision Activity 6: Colour and Say

Time: 5 minutes

• Children colour the pear picture on page 45 if not yet finished
• As they colour, ask: "What is it? What sound does it start with?"
