Hello, little friends! Are you ready for some fun? Today we are going to meet a new letter. It is the letter p!

Look at the letter p. It has a long line going down, and a round tummy at the top. Can you say its name with me? p. Very good!

Now let us learn the sound that p makes. Put your hand in front of your mouth. Close your lips, then pop them open. p says /p/. Did you feel a little puff of air on your hand? /p/, /p/, /p/. Well done!

Let us say it together again. p says /p/. Wonderful!

Now let us look at a lovely picture. We are in a garden full of trees and flowers. Who is sitting on the branch? It is a big red parrot! Say it with me. Parrot. P-p-parrot. Parrot starts with the /p/ sound.

The parrot is holding a green fruit. What is it? It is a pear! Say it with me. Pear. P-p-pear. Pear starts with /p/ too.

The parrot is so happy. Let us listen. The parrot is eating a delicious pear. Can you say it with me? The parrot is eating a delicious pear. Well done!

Let us be parrots. Flap your wings. Now take a big bite of your pear. Crunch, crunch! Yummy!

Now we have more p words to learn. Are you ready?

Here is a cuddly panda. It is black and white, and it is holding a green stick. Say panda. P-p-panda. Panda starts with /p/.

Here is a peach. It is soft and round and orange. Say peach. P-p-peach. Peach starts with /p/.

And here is a funny pencil. It is waving hello! We use a pencil to draw and write. Say pencil. P-p-pencil. Pencil starts with /p/.

Let us say all our p words together. Parrot. Pear. Panda. Peach. Pencil. Great job!

Now let us learn how to write the letter p. Hold up your pointing finger. We are going to draw p in the air.

Start at the top. Go straight down, all the way down, past the line. Now go back up the same line to the top. Make a round tummy out to the side, and come back to close it. That is p!

Let us do it again, nice and slowly. Start at the top. Down, down, down. Back up. Round tummy. Beautiful!

Can you draw p on your hand? Start at the top, go down, go back up, and make a round tummy. You are so clever!

In your book, you will see little red dots. Always start your p at the red dot at the top. Remember, the tail of p goes down below the line.

Let us remember what we learned today. This is the letter p. The letter p says /p/.

To write p, we start at the top, go down past the line, go back up, and make a round tummy.
