Hello, little friends! Are you ready to learn a new letter today? Our new letter is h.

Look at this letter. It has a tall line and a little hump, like a chair. This is the letter h.

The letter h makes a sound. It says /h/. Put your hand in front of your mouth. Say /h/. Can you feel a little puff of warm air? /h/. Again! /h/.

It sounds like you are breathing on a cold window. /h/, /h/, /h/.

Let us go to a farm. We are inside a wooden barn. There is soft straw on the floor.

Who is looking over the fence? It is a horse! Horse. Say it with me. Horse. H-h-h-horse.

The horse is brown with a long mane. It is eating green grass. Munch, munch!

Now look down on the floor. Who is pecking the seeds? It is a hen! Hen. Say it with me. Hen. H-h-h-hen.

The hen is orange and red. Peck, peck, peck!

Listen to this sentence. "A cute horse and a little hen are eating their yummy food."

Let us say it in little parts. "A cute horse." "And a little hen." "Are eating their yummy food." Well done!

Can you gallop like a horse? Gallop, gallop, gallop! Can you peck like a hen? Peck, peck, peck!

Now let us look at some pictures. Here is the first one. It is big and green, with trees and a path. It is a hill. Hill. H-h-h-hill.

Here is the next picture. It is a little house with a straw roof. It is a hut. Hut. H-h-h-hut.

And here is the last picture. It has a saddle on its back. It is a horse. Horse.

Let us say all the words together. Horse. Hen. Hill. Hut. Great job!

Now it is time to trace the letter h. Get your finger ready. Hold it up in the air.

Start at the top. Go straight down, down, down, all the way to the bottom.

Now go back up, halfway. Make a little hump. Over, and down. That is the letter h!

Let us do it again. Tall line down. Back up. Over the hump, and down. Wonderful!

You can trace h on your book too. Start at the red dot at the top. Follow the dots slowly. Down, up, and over the hump.

You can make a hand print too! Your hand can be a little hen. Hand starts with /h/ too.

Let us remember what we learned today. This is the letter h. It says /h/.

We saw a horse and a hen in the barn. We saw a hill and a hut.

We said, "A cute horse and a little hen are eating their yummy food."

And we traced the letter h. Tall line down, back up, and over the hump.
