Revision Objectives

• Recognise the letter "d" and say its sound /d/
• Recall the words duck, dog, dolphin, drum and doll
• Repeat the sentence "The dog and the duck are playing in the garden."
• Trace the letter "d" with the correct stroke

Revision Activity 1: Dog or Duck?

Time: 5 minutes

• Hold up the dog picture, then the duck picture, in any order
• Learners bark for the dog and quack for the duck
• Then say the word: "dog", "duck"
• Speed up for extra fun

Revision Activity 2: Point and Say

Time: 5 minutes

• Open page 10 or hold up picture cards
• Say a word and learners point to it: duck, dog, dolphin, drum, doll
• Then swap: you point, learners say the word
• Add the actions: swim for dolphin, bang for drum, rock for doll

Revision Activity 3: Garden Play Sentence

Time: 5 minutes

• Two learners pretend to be the dog and the duck and play together
• The class says "The dog and the duck are playing in the garden."
• Say it in two parts first, then all together
• Swap players and repeat

Revision Activity 4: Playdough Dolphin

Time: 5 minutes

• Give out grey playdough
• Learners roll a dolphin: smooth back, pointed nose, one curved tail
• Ask: "What sound does dolphin start with?" Learners say /d/

Revision Activity 5: Air, Finger and Pencil Tracing

Time: 8 minutes

• Draw a big "d" in the air: round part first, then up to the top and straight down
• Learners trace "d" with a finger on the big pink "d" on page 11
• Trace one dotted row of "d" on a fresh sheet with a pencil
• Hold up "b" and "d" cards and ask which one is "d"

Revision Activity 6: Dice Roll

Time: 3 minutes

• Let each learner roll a dice
• Count the dots out loud together
• Say who rolled the biggest number
