Revision Objectives
- Retell the key details of the passage "My Home."
- Recall vocabulary meanings (share, happily, to place, discuss).
- Identify vowels and consonants confidently.
- Name common fruits and vegetables.
- Spell key words correctly (guava, light, important, family).
- Identify nouns in sentences and in the environment.
- Use pronouns correctly in sentences.
- Write simple sentences about one's own home.
Activity 1: Story Retelling Chain (10 minutes)
Focus: Reading comprehension
- Sit students in a circle.
- The first student says one fact about Ali's home (e.g., "Ali has two brothers and a sister.").
- The next student adds another fact (e.g., "His home has two bedrooms.").
- Continue around the circle. If a student cannot think of a new fact, they repeat a fact already said.
- See how many facts the class can recall together.
Key facts to cover: two brothers, one sister; two bedrooms, one kitchen, two bathrooms, sitting room, drawing room; shared room with four beds, four chairs, cupboard, bookshelf, clock; watch TV in sitting room; parents guide them; play together; keep home neat and clean.
Activity 2: Vocabulary Sentences (5 minutes)
Focus: Word meanings
Teacher says a word. Students give the meaning and use it in a sentence.
- share — to divide. "I share my toys with my sister."
- happily — with happiness. "We live happily."
- to place — to keep. "I place my books on the shelf."
- discuss — to talk about something. "We discuss our homework."
Activity 3: Vowel Hunt (10 minutes)
Focus: Vowels and consonants
- Write five words from the unit on the board: home, sister, kitchen, beautiful, bedroom.
- Students come to the board one at a time and circle all vowels in each word with a coloured marker.
- Count consonants and vowels in each word together.
- Quick check: Teacher calls out a random letter. Students say "vowel" or "consonant."
Activity 4: Fruit and Vegetable Race (10 minutes)
Focus: Naming words — fruits and vegetables
- Divide the class into two teams.
- Draw two columns on the board: "Fruits" and "Vegetables."
- Teams take turns sending one member to write a fruit or vegetable name under the correct column.
- Continue for 3 minutes. The team with more correct entries wins.
- Review all entries for correct spelling.
Expected words: guava, apple, orange, pear, banana, potato, tomato, carrot, radish, spinach (and any others students know).
Activity 5: Spelling Bee (5 minutes)
Focus: Correct spelling
Teacher calls out words one by one. Students write them on mini whiteboards or in notebooks. Check after each word.
Words: guava, light, important, family, beautiful, kitchen, bedroom, bookshelf
Activity 6: Noun Detective (10 minutes)
Focus: Nouns (naming words)
- Give students 2 minutes to look around the classroom.
- Each student writes five nouns they can see (e.g., desk, board, fan, bag, door).
- Share answers. Write them on the board.
- Ask: "Is this a person, place, or thing?" for each noun.
- Then ask students to find five nouns from the passage "My Home."
Activity 7: Pronoun Swap (5 minutes)
Focus: Pronouns
Teacher reads sentences with nouns. Students replace the noun with the correct pronoun.
- Ali is a good boy. → ______ is a good boy. (He)
- Sara is my sister. → ______ is my sister. (She)
- The cat is brown. → ______ is brown. (It)
- Ali and Babar are friends. → ______ are friends. (They)
- My mother and I live here. → ______ live here. (We)
Activity 8: Quick Write — My Home (5 minutes)
Focus: Sentence writing
Students write three sentences about their own home in their notebooks. Remind them to use capital letters at the beginning and full stops at the end.
Example:
- My home is big.
- It has three bedrooms.
- I love my home.
