Revision Objectives

  • Recall key facts about Pakistan (location, independence, provinces, capital, language, currency, cultural groups).
  • Use vocabulary correctly: mountain, desert, island.
  • Identify vowels and consonants in words.
  • Recognise initial and final consonant clusters.
  • Tell time by the hour on a clock.
  • Name and classify fruits and vegetables.
  • Apply capitalisation rules to sentences and proper nouns.
  • Write one-syllable words.
  • Seek permission using polite expressions.

Activity 1: Pakistan Facts Challenge (10 minutes)

Focus: Reading comprehension — country facts

  1. Divide the class into two teams.
  2. Teacher asks rapid-fire questions about Pakistan. Teams take turns answering.
  3. Questions:
    • Where is Pakistan located? (South Asia)
    • What continent is it part of? (Asian continent)
    • When did Pakistan come into being? (14th August, 1947)
    • Name the four provinces. (Punjab, Sindh, KPK, Balochistan)
    • What is the capital? (Islamabad)
    • What is the national language? (Urdu)
    • What is the currency? (Rupee)
    • Name three cultural groups. (Punjabis, Sindhis, Pakhtuns, Balochis, Kashmiris, Gilgit-Baltistanis — any three)
    • What is Pakistan a land of? (Mountains, islands, plateaus, deserts, rivers)
  4. Award one point per correct answer.

Activity 2: Vocabulary Pictionary (5 minutes)

Focus: Word meanings

Teacher (or a student volunteer) draws a quick sketch on the board. Class guesses the word.

  1. Draw a tall hill → mountain (a very high hill)
  2. Draw sand and sun → desert (a large area of land covered with sand)
  3. Draw land surrounded by water → island (a piece of land surrounded by water)

Activity 3: Vowel or Consonant Slap (10 minutes)

Focus: Vowels and consonants

  1. Write all 26 letters on the board in random order.
  2. Teacher calls out "vowel" or "consonant."
  3. A student comes to the board and slaps (points to) a correct letter.
  4. Continue with different students.
  5. Then, give a word (e.g., "country"). Students write it and circle the vowels, underline the consonants.

Activity 4: Cluster Hunt (5 minutes)

Focus: Consonant clusters

Write these words on the board: bread, clock, bank, lamp, friend, swim, plate, mask.

Students come to the board one at a time and circle the consonant cluster, then say "initial" or "final."


Activity 5: What Time Is It? (10 minutes)

Focus: Telling time by the hour

  1. Teacher draws a clock on the board showing a specific hour (e.g., 3 o'clock).
  2. Students write the time on mini whiteboards or paper.
  3. Repeat with 5-6 different times.
  4. Then reverse: Teacher says "Show me 7 o'clock." Students draw the clock hands.

Activity 6: Fruit or Vegetable Relay (5 minutes)

Focus: Naming and classifying

  1. Draw two columns on the board: "Fruits" and "Vegetables."
  2. Call students one at a time to write a word in the correct column.
  3. Use these words plus any the students know: melon, plum, pear, orange, potato, garlic, brinjal, onion, pomegranate, spinach, apple, cauliflower.

Activity 7: Fix the Capitalisation (5 minutes)

Focus: Capitalisation rules

Write these sentences on the board without correct capitalisation. Students rewrite them correctly.

  1. ali lives in lahore. → Ali lives in Lahore.
  2. pakistan is beautiful. → Pakistan is beautiful.
  3. i love my country. → I love my country.
  4. bunny is a rabbit. → Bunny is a rabbit.

Activity 8: One-Syllable Word Race (5 minutes)

Focus: Syllables

  1. Give students 2 minutes to write as many one-syllable words as they can think of.
  2. Share answers. Write them on the board.
  3. Check together — does each word have only one vowel sound?
  4. Examples: cat, dog, web, golf, feel, run, sun, big, red.

Activity 9: Permission Role-Play (5 minutes)

Focus: Oral communication — seeking permission

Students practise in pairs using new situations:

  • "May I drink water, Sir?" → "Yes, you may."
  • "Can I borrow your eraser?" → "Yes, sure." → "Thank you." → "You are welcome."
