Revision Objectives
- Recite the poem from memory with correct pronunciation and expression.
- Recall vocabulary meanings (sweet, food, sing).
- Answer comprehension questions confidently.
- Identify beginning and ending letter sounds.
- Read and spell all ten sight words.
- Classify nouns as common or proper.
- Use greeting and self-introduction expressions.
Activity 1: Poem Recitation Race (10 minutes)
Focus: Reading and memorisation
- Divide the class into two groups.
- Group A recites the first two stanzas, Group B recites the next two stanzas.
- Then swap.
- Finally, individual volunteers recite the whole poem.
- Award points for correct pronunciation and expression.
Activity 2: Vocabulary Matching (5 minutes)
Focus: Word meanings
Write the following on the board. Students match each word to its meaning.

Answer key: sweet = beautiful, food = edible thing, sing = carry a tune with one's voice
Activity 3: Quick Comprehension Quiz (10 minutes)
Focus: Reading comprehension
Ask these questions orally. Students raise hands to answer.
- What does the poem thank Allah for? (the world, food, water, birds, greenery, fresh air, everything)
- Name three fruits created by Allah. (any valid answers)
- What do birds do? (They sing.)
- What does "green" stand for in the poem? (a beautiful, fresh world)
- Should we thank Allah? Why? (Yes, for all blessings)
Then students write answers to questions 1, 3, and 4 in their notebooks.
Activity 4: Sound Sort (10 minutes)
Focus: Phonics — initial and final sounds, consonants vs vowels
Part A: Teacher says a word. Students write the beginning sound.
- Fish (f), Gate (g), Apple (a), Jug (j), Dog (d), Umbrella (u)
Part B: Teacher says a word. Students write the ending sound and say "consonant" or "vowel."
- Cat (t — consonant), Tree (e — vowel), Frog (g — consonant), Banana (a — vowel)
Activity 5: Sight Word Bingo (10 minutes)
Focus: Sight word recognition
- Give each student a blank 3x3 grid.
- Students choose 9 of the 10 sight words and write one in each box: and, now, for, the, too, much, land, bank, tail, from.
- Teacher calls out words one at a time. Students cross off the word if they have it.
- First student to get three in a row calls "Bingo!" and reads the three words aloud.
Activity 6: Noun Sorting Game (10 minutes)
Focus: Common and proper nouns
- Write these words on cards or on the board: dog, Lahore, river, Ali, school, Pakistan, cat, Honda, tree, Bunny.
- Draw two columns on the board: "Common Noun" and "Proper Noun."
- Call students one at a time to pick a word and place it in the correct column.
- Class confirms or corrects each placement.
Answers:
- Common: dog, river, school, cat, tree
- Proper: Lahore, Ali, Pakistan, Honda, Bunny
Activity 7: Introduction Role-Play (5 minutes)
Focus: Oral communication
- Pair up students who have not practised together before.
- Each pair performs the greeting and introduction dialogue.
- Encourage them to add one new piece of information (e.g., "I am in Class 2" or "I like to read books").
