Assessment Plan -- Unit 9

Different Professions

Subject: English | Class: 1 | Series: Leeds (SNC 2020)


Assessment Objectives

By the end of this unit, students should be able to:

  1. Name at least 5 professions and describe what each does
  2. Answer comprehension questions about the passage
  3. Identify consonant blends in words
  4. Match masculine and feminine nouns
  5. Write simple sentences about their morning routine
  6. Use vocabulary words (repair, treat, provide) correctly

Formative Assessment

1. Professions Knowledge (During Day 1-2)

  • Task: Name 5 professions and say what each does
  • Rating: All correct / Most correct / Needs support

2. Matching Professions (During Day 2)

  • Task: Match 4 pictures with profession names
  • Criteria: All 4 correct
  • Rating: Excellent / Good / Needs Practice

3. Consonant Blends (During Day 3)

  • Task: Identify the blend in 5 words: flag, skip, star, frog, tree
  • Criteria: At least 4 out of 5 correct
  • Rating: Excellent / Good / Needs Practice

4. Gender Matching (During Day 3)

  • Task: Match 5 masculine nouns with their feminine counterparts
  • Criteria: All 5 correct
  • Rating: Excellent / Good / Needs Practice

Summative Assessment

Part A: Comprehension (5 marks)

  1. What does a doctor do? (1 mark)
  2. How do farmers help us? (1 mark)
  3. What is the duty of a teacher? (1 mark)
  4. What does a cobbler do? (1 mark)
  5. What does a dress designer make? (1 mark)

Part B: Match Professions (5 marks) Match each person with their profession:

  1. Grows crops (farmer) (1 mark)
  2. Treats sick people (doctor) (1 mark)
  3. Teaches students (teacher) (1 mark)
  4. Makes shoes (cobbler) (1 mark)
  5. Makes dresses (dress designer) (1 mark)

Part C: Consonant Blends and Gender (5 marks)

  1. Circle the consonant blend in: flag, star, skip (3 marks)
  2. Write the feminine of: boy, father (2 marks)

Part D: Creative Writing (5 marks) Write 4 sentences about your morning routine using: get up, brush, wash, bath (1 mark per correct sentence + 1 mark for capitalisation/punctuation)

Total: 20 marks


Remediation Plan

  • Students scoring below 10/20 should:
    • Review professions with picture flashcards
    • Practise consonant blends with oral drills
    • Use gender matching cards for daily practice
    • Write morning routine sentences with teacher guidance
