Let's Make Friends

Assessment Objectives

By the end of this unit, students should be able to:

  1. Recall and answer questions about the story of Ali and Asad
  2. Identify and match action words with pictures
  3. Use vocabulary words (share, realise, mistake) correctly
  4. Use "this" and "these" correctly in sentences
  5. Complete CVC words by filling in missing letters
  6. Demonstrate stranger safety rules

Formative Assessment

1. Story Comprehension (During Day 1-2)

  • Task: Students answer:
    1. Who shares toys with Asad?
    2. What gift did Asad receive?
    3. Where was the train found?
    4. What is the moral of the story?
  • Rating: All correct / Most correct / Needs support

2. Action Words (During Day 2)

  • Task: Show 5 pictures; students say the action word for each
  • Actions: play, read, sit, write, drink
  • Criteria: Correctly names at least 4 out of 5
  • Rating: Excellent / Good / Needs Practice

3. This vs. These (During Day 3)

  • Task: Complete 4 sentences with "this" or "these"
  • Criteria: All 4 correct
  • Rating: All correct / 3 correct / Needs practice

4. CVC Missing Letters (During Day 3)

  • Task: Fill in the missing letter in 6 CVC words
  • Criteria: At least 5 out of 6 correct
  • Rating: Excellent / Good / Needs Practice

  2. Write the meaning of: share, mistake (2 marks)

Part C: This and These (5 marks) Fill in "this" or "these":

Remediation Plan

  • Students scoring below 10/20 should:

    • Practise CVC words with letter tiles
