Let's Make Friends

Revision Objectives

  • Reinforce the story of Ali and Asad and the lesson about sharing
  • Strengthen action word recognition
  • Practise using "this" and "these" correctly
  • Review CVC word completion and vocabulary

Revision Activity 1: Story Questions Relay

Time: 8 minutes

  • Divide class into two teams
  • Ask alternating questions about the story:
    • Who always shared toys? (Ali)
    • Who never shared? (Asad)
    • What gift did Asad get? (A chargeable train)
    • Where was the train lost? (In the lawn)
    • Who found the train? (Ali and Asad together)
    • What did Asad's mother say? ("Sharing is caring")

Revision Activity 2: Action Word Charades

Time: 8 minutes

  • One student acts out an action word; the class guesses
  • Action words: play, read, sit, write, drink, run, jump, eat
  • The student who guesses correctly goes next

Revision Activity 3: This or These?

Time: 7 minutes

  • Teacher holds up one object: "What do I say?" (This is a pencil)
  • Teacher holds up multiple objects: "What do I say?" (These are pencils)
  • Students practise with real classroom objects
  • Write 4 sentences on the board with blanks for students to fill in

Revision Activity 4: CVC Missing Letter Challenge

Time: 7 minutes

  • Write words on the board with missing middle letters:
    • c_t (cat), d_g (dog), p_n (pin), h_t (hat), b_g (bag), c_p (cup)
  • Students come to the board and fill in the missing vowel
  • Discuss: the missing letter is usually a vowel (a, e, i, o, u)

Revision Activity 5: Vocabulary Match

Time: 5 minutes

  • Match words with meanings:
    • share = to divide
    • realise = to understand
    • mistake = error
  • Use each word in a sentence orally

Revision Activity 6: Stranger Safety Review

Time: 5 minutes

  • Ask students: "What should you do if a stranger talks to you?"
  • Review the three rules:
    1. Do not speak to a stranger
    2. Do not give any response
    3. Do not take anything from a stranger

Key Points to Remember

  • Ali shared his toys but Asad did not. When Asad needed help, Ali still helped him. Moral: sharing is caring.
  • Action words show what someone does: play, read, sit, write, drink
  • "This" = one thing near us; "These" = many things near us
  • Vocabulary: share (to divide), realise (to understand), mistake (error)
  • Stranger safety: do not talk to, respond to, or take things from strangers
