Three Little Cubs

Revision Objectives

  • Reinforce the story of the three little cubs and its moral
  • Strengthen individual sound recognition and CVC blending
  • Practise singular and plural noun formation
  • Consolidate number words 1-10

Revision Activity 1: Story Sequencing

Time: 10 minutes

  • Write these events on cards/board in mixed order. Students put them in the correct sequence:
    1. Three cubs built houses of straw, sticks, and bricks.
    2. The wolf blew down Sonu's straw house.
    3. The wolf blew down Monu's stick house.
    4. Sonu and Monu ran to Gonu's brick house.
    5. The wolf could not blow down the brick house.
    6. The three cubs lived happily together.

Revision Activity 2: Sound Blending Game

Time: 8 minutes

  • Teacher says three separate sounds; students blend and shout the word:
    • p-o-t (pot), b-u-n (bun), c-o-w (cow), p-e-n (pen), j-a-m (jam), b-a-g (bag)
    • Add new words: c-u-p (cup), s-u-n (sun), m-a-t (mat), h-a-t (hat)
  • Students who answer first get a point for their team

Revision Activity 3: Singular to Plural

Time: 7 minutes

  • Teacher says a singular word; students say the plural:
    • boy/boys, cow/cows, house/houses, table/tables
    • apple/apples, bird/birds, plant/plants, star/stars
    • quail/quails, zebra/zebras, cup/cups, book/books
  • Write answers on the board to check spelling

Revision Activity 4: Number Words Bingo

Time: 10 minutes

  • Give each student a grid with 6 random number words (from One to Ten)
  • Teacher calls out a numeral (e.g., "7"); students cross out "Seven" if they have it
  • First student to cross out all 6 wins
  • This reinforces number word recognition and spelling

Revision Activity 5: Sharing Dialogue Role-Play

Time: 5 minutes

  • Students pair up and practise:
    • "Do you have an extra ___?" / "Yes, here it is."
    • "Thank you!" / "You are welcome."
  • Encourage use of different items (pencil, eraser, book)

Key Points to Remember

  • The three cubs: Sonu (straw house), Monu (sticks house), Gonu (bricks house)
  • The brick house was strongest; the wolf could not blow it down
  • Moral: help each other in times of need; sharing is caring
  • CVC words: pot, bun, cow, pen, jam, bag
