Hello, little friends! Welcome back. Today we are going to meet the very last letter of the alphabet. It is the letter z.

Look at the letter z. It has a line at the top, a slide in the middle, and a line at the bottom. Can you say its name with me? z. Great!

The letter z makes a buzzing sound, just like a busy bee. Put your teeth together and buzz. /z/. /z/, /z/, /z/. Can you feel the buzz? Well done, little bees!

Now let us look at a big, happy picture. We are at a zoo in the mountains. There is a waterfall, colourful flags, and lots of animals.

Can you see the big sign? It says zoo. A zoo is a place where we can visit many animals. Say it with me: zoo. /z/, /z/, zoo.

Look at this animal with black and white stripes. It is a zebra! The zebra is smiling. Say it with me: zebra. /z/, /z/, zebra.

There is a little girl called Zainab. She is waving at the zebra. Let us listen to what the picture says. Zainab visits the zoo and sees the zebra.

Say it with me. Zainab visits the zoo and sees the zebra. Wonderful!

Now let us look at three more pictures. Every one of them begins with z.

Here is a zucchini. A zucchini is a long green vegetable. We can cut it into round slices. Zucchini.

Here is a zeppelin. A zeppelin is a big balloon ship that floats high in the sky. Zeppelin.

Here is a zigzag. A zigzag is a line that goes up and down, up and down. Zig, zag, zig, zag. Zigzag.

Let us say them all together. Zucchini. Zeppelin. Zigzag. Very good!

Can you hear the buzzing /z/ at the start of each word? /z/, zucchini. /z/, zeppelin. /z/, zigzag.

Let us play a game. When you hear a z word, buzz like a bee!

Zoo. Buzz! Zebra. Buzz! Zucchini. Buzz! Zeppelin. Buzz! Zigzag. Buzz! You are amazing listeners.

Let us draw a zigzag in the air. Up and down, up and down. Zig, zag, zig, zag. Fantastic!

Now it is time to write the letter z. First, let us draw it in the air with our finger.

Put your finger at the top on the left side. Go straight across to the right. Now slide down, slanting all the way to the bottom on the left side. Now go straight across to the right again.

Across, slide down, across. That is the letter z!

Let us do it again, slowly. Across. Slide down. Across. Brilliant!

When you trace z in your book, start at the little red dot. Hold your pencil gently, like a little bird's beak pinching it. Then go across, slide down, and go across.

Take your time. Follow the dots. If you go off the line, that is okay. Just try again.

After you trace, you can colour the zebra picture. Colour the stripes black, and leave the white stripes white.

Let us remember what we learned today.
