Revision Objectives

• Recognise the letter "z" and say its sound /z/
• Recall the words zoo, zebra, zucchini, zeppelin and zigzag
• Repeat the speech-bubble sentence
• Practise the across, slide down, across movement for tracing "z"

Revision Activity 1: Buzzing Bees

Time: 5 minutes

• Learners stand up and become buzzing bees
• Say the lesson words one by one: zoo, zebra, zucchini, zeppelin, zigzag
• Learners buzz /z/ and fly around on the spot for each "z" word
• Mix in one or two words from earlier letters; learners freeze for those

Revision Activity 2: Word Actions

Time: 5 minutes

• Give each word an action:
  • zoo: open a pretend gate
  • zebra: gallop on the spot
  • zucchini: pretend to chop a long vegetable
  • zeppelin: stretch arms out and float slowly
  • zigzag: move a hand up and down across the body
• Say a word; learners do the action
• Do an action; learners say the word

Revision Activity 3: Big Picture Talk

Time: 5 minutes

• Open page 72 and look at the big picture together
• Ask pointing questions:
  1. "Where is Zainab?"
  2. "Where is the zebra?"
  3. "Which animal behind the fence is tallest?"
• Say the speech bubble together: "Zainab visits the zoo and sees the zebra."

Revision Activity 4: Air and Pencil Tracing

Time: 10 minutes

• Draw a giant "z" in the air together, chanting "across, slide down, across"
• Learners draw "z" with a finger on the table and in a sand tray
• Hand out a sheet with large dotted "z" letters, each with a red starting dot
• Learners trace with a crayon, starting at the dot
• Check pencil grip and praise every try

Revision Activity 5: Zigzag Walk

Time: 5 minutes

• Make a zigzag path on the floor with tape or chalk
• Learners walk along it one at a time, saying "zig, zag, zig, zag"
• Everyone claps each time the path changes direction

Revision Activity 6: Zip and Zero

Time: 5 minutes (optional)

• Pass a bag or coat with a zip around the circle; each learner zips it up and down and says "zip"
• Learners roll a long playdough rope and join the ends to make a round zero
• Each learner holds up the zero and says "zero"
