Revision Objectives

• Reinforce the name and sound of the letter "t"
• Recall the words tree, tortoise, tent and train
• Practise the speech-bubble sentence orally
• Strengthen tracing of the letter "t" from the red dot

Revision Activity 1: Tapping Train

Time: 5 minutes

• Learners line up as a train, hands on shoulders
• The train moves slowly round the room
• Every time the teacher claps, the train stops and everyone taps their feet saying "t, t, t"
• The engine at the front says "train, /t/" before moving again

Revision Activity 2: Picture Card Point

Time: 8 minutes

• Place the picture cards tree, tortoise, tent and train on the floor
• Teacher says a word; one learner points to or stands beside the card
• Reverse: teacher points to a card, the class says the word
• Add actions:
  • tree -- stand tall with arms out
  • tortoise -- crawl slowly
  • tent -- hands together in a point
  • train -- "choo choo" with arm wheels

Revision Activity 3: Tortoise Sentence

Time: 5 minutes

• Show page 54 and point to the speech bubble
• Say: "Look at the happy tortoise under the green tree."
• Learners echo the sentence in three parts
• Ask:
  1. Who is happy? (the tortoise)
  2. Where is the tortoise? (under the tree)
  3. What colour is the tree? (green)
• Two learners act it out: one is the tree, one is the tortoise underneath

Revision Activity 4: Tracing Practice

Time: 8 minutes

• Draw a big "t" on the board with a red dot at the top
• Learners trace "t" in the air: straight down with a little curve, then a line across
• Give each learner a sheet with large dotted "t" letters
• Learners trace with a crayon first, then with a pencil
• Teacher checks that the down stroke comes first

Revision Activity 5: Hands Up for /t/

Time: 4 minutes

• Linked to the Little Innovators activity on page 54
• Teacher says /t/, /s/ and /a/ in a mixed order
• Learners put a hand up only for /t/
• Speed up the game as learners get confident
