Hello, little friends! Welcome to our lesson. Today we are going to meet a brand new letter. Are you ready? Let's go!

This is the letter r. Can you say r? Very good!

The letter r makes a sound. It goes rrrr. Rrrr. It sounds like a little car engine. Rrrr. Can you say it with me? Rrrr!

Let's say it in a loud voice. Rrrr! Now in a quiet voice. Rrrr. Now in a tiny whisper. Rrrr. Well done!

Now let's look at a beautiful garden. There are flowers everywhere. And look who is sitting in the garden. It is a rabbit!

Rabbit. Rrr, rabbit. Rabbit begins with r. Can you say rabbit? Great job!

The rabbit has long ears and soft fur. Can you hop like a rabbit? Hop, hop, hop!

Now look at the flower next to the rabbit. It is a rose. Rose. Rrr, rose. Rose begins with r too.

Here is something that flies up to the sky. It is a rocket. Rocket. Rrr, rocket. Let's count down. Three, two, one, blast off! Whoosh!

And here is our red rose again. Rose. Rrr, rose.

Now it is time to trace the letter r. Hold up your finger. Pointing finger ready?

Put your finger at the top. Go straight down. Now go back up the same line. Then make a little bump over to the side, like a small branch. That is r!

Let's do it again in the air. Start at the top. Down. Back up. And a little bump over. R!

One more time, nice and slow. Down. Up. Bump. Rrr! You made the letter r!

When you trace r in your book, start at the little red dot. Hold your pencil gently, like a little bird's beak.

You can colour the big r too. Colour it nicely and stay inside the lines.
