The School Bus

Revision Objectives
- Recall key facts about school buses (purpose, features, safety measures).
- Use vocabulary correctly: vehicle, contract, measures, reserved, convenience.

- Distinguish between subjective and objective case pronouns.
- Write sentences about a school bus.
Activity 1: School Bus Facts Recall (5 minutes)
Focus: Reading comprehension
Teacher asks rapid-fire questions. Students answer aloud.
- What is a school bus used for? (To pick and drop school children)
- How many seats does a school bus have? (60-70)
- Where do students place their bags? (On the shelf above the seats)
- Name two safety measures for school buses. (Experienced drivers, broad mirrors, emergency exit, buses in excellent condition)
- Why does a bus need an emergency exit? (To help in any mishap)
Activity 2: Vocabulary Crossword (10 minutes)
Focus: Word meanings
Write clues on the board. Students write the vocabulary word.
- A means of transport → vehicle
- An agreement between two parties → contract
- Ways or methods → measures
- Set aside for a particular person → reserved
- Easy or comfortable → convenience
Students write one sentence for each word.
Activity 3: Blend Sorting Game (10 minutes)
Focus: Consonant blends
- Write these words on cards or on the board: stop, bring, band, best, trick, spin, hand, sing, bent, brown, star, rest.
- Draw four columns: Initial Blends and Final Blends, each split into specific blends.
- Students take turns placing words in the correct column.

Activity 4: Spelling Bee (5 minutes)
Focus: Correct spelling
Teacher calls out words. Students write them in notebooks.
Words: school, vehicle, mirror, driver, measure, convenience, reserved, emergency
Check answers together.
Activity 5: Pronoun Swap Challenge (10 minutes)
Focus: Subjective and objective case pronouns
- Display the pronoun chart:

Teacher reads a sentence. Students identify each pronoun and say if it is subjective or objective.
- "He gave the book to her." (He = subjective, her = objective)

- "She told me a story." (She = subjective, me = objective)
Students write three of their own sentences using both subjective and objective pronouns.
Activity 6: Quick Write — Our School Bus (5 minutes)
Focus: Sentence writing
Students write three sentences about their school bus (or an imaginary one) in their notebooks. Remind them to use different sentence beginnings.
Activity 7: Dialogue Practice (5 minutes)
Focus: Oral communication
Students pair up and practise a new version of the homework help dialogue:
- "Have you finished your English homework?"
- "Not yet. I need help with the spelling words."
- "I can help you. Let us practise together."
- "Thank you! That is very kind of you."
- "You are welcome."
