Revision Objectives
By the end of revision, students should be confident in:
- Retelling the story of Nicky, Ducky, and the rat
- Sorting -ed words by their pronunciation (/d/, /t/, /id/)
- Using possessive words (my, your, his, her, its, our, their) correctly
- Identifying inflectional endings (-s, -es)
- Using joining words (and, or, but, because) in sentences
Revision Activity 1: Story Retelling Chain (10 minutes)
Type: Whole class, oral
- Sit students in a circle.
- First student says one sentence about the story. Next student continues.
- Continue around the circle until the story is complete.
- Key events to cover:
- Nicky and Ducky were friends who roamed together
- They saw a "worm" on a hill
- Ducky picked it up and they all rolled down into a pond
- It was actually a rat, not a worm
- Nicky could not swim, Ducky could
- They cooperated: Nicky held Ducky's wings, rat climbed on Ducky's back
- All three reached the bank safely
Revision Activity 2: -ed Sound Sorting Race (10 minutes)
Type: Team competition
- Divide class into teams.
- Teacher says a word; teams write it under the correct column (/d/, /t/, or /id/).
- Words: decided, saved, laughed, finished, helped, advised, wanted, cleaned, washed, played, landed, cooked.

- Students then create their own sentences using each joining word.
Revision Activity 6: Word Replacement Practice (10 minutes)
Type: Written
Replace the underlined word with a word that has a similar meaning from the box.
Word Bank: joyful, scared, enormous, intelligent, courageous
