Assessment Plan -- Unit 1
Allah's Creation
Subject: English | Class: 1 | Series: Leeds (SNC 2020)
Assessment Objectives
By the end of this unit, students should be able to:
- Recite the poem "Allah's Creation" with correct pronunciation
- Answer simple comprehension questions about the poem
- Identify and define naming words (nouns)
- Match naming words with pictures
- Trace familiar words correctly
- Use a basic greeting dialogue
Formative Assessment
1. Oral Recitation (During Day 1)
- Task: Students recite the poem individually or in pairs
- Criteria:
- Correct pronunciation of words
- Appropriate rhythm and expression
- Ability to recite at least one stanza from memory
- Rating: Excellent / Good / Needs Practice
2. Comprehension Check (During Day 2)
- Task: Students answer the following questions orally:
- Who is the creator of the earth?
- Who created fruits sweet and sour?
- Who created day and night?
- How should we show gratitude to Allah?
- Name three things Allah has created.
- Criteria: Correct and complete answers in simple English
- Rating: All correct / Most correct / Needs support
3. Naming Words Identification (During Day 2)
- Task: Show students 6 pictures (e.g., pigeon, eagle, lamp, book, sun, tree). Students say the naming word for each.
- Criteria: Correctly names at least 4 out of 6 pictures
- Rating: Excellent / Good / Needs Practice
4. Tracing Assessment (During Day 3)
- Task: Students trace the words from the textbook: earth, all, fruits, sky, light, dark, sweet, bird
- Criteria:
- Letters are formed correctly
- Writing stays on the line
- Pencil grip is correct
- Rating: Neat and accurate / Satisfactory / Needs improvement

Written/Practical Test
Part A: Comprehension (Oral -- 5 marks)
- Who is the creator of all things? (1 mark)
- What did Allah create sweet and sour? (1 mark)
- Name two things Allah created. (1 mark)
- Do you like the poem? Say one reason why. (1 mark)
- When does a day begin? (1 mark)
Part B: Naming Words (5 marks)
- What are naming words? (1 mark)
- Look at the pictures and write the naming word for each (pigeon, eagle, lamp, book). (4 marks)
Part C: Tracing (5 marks)
- Trace the following words neatly: earth, fruits, sun, bird, moon (1 mark each)
Part D: Oral Communication (5 marks)
- Perform the greeting dialogue with a partner:
- Correct greeting (2 marks)
- Self-introduction (1 mark)
- Asking "How are you?" (1 mark)
- Responding appropriately (1 mark)
Total: 20 marks
Remediation Plan
- Students who score below 10/20 should:
- Practise reciting the poem daily with a partner
- Use flashcards to revise naming words
- Practise tracing words on dotted worksheets
- Rehearse the greeting dialogue with the teacher
