Daily Lesson Plan -- Unit 1
Allah's Creation
Subject: English | Class: 1 | Series: Leeds (SNC 2020)
Overview
This unit introduces students to a poem about Allah's creations. Students will learn about naming words (nouns), practise tracing vocabulary, and engage in a greeting dialogue.
Learning Objectives
- Use pre-reading strategies to predict the poem by looking at pictures
- Interact with the text to locate specific factual information
- Respond to the text to express likes about the poem
- Comprehend simple poems read aloud in class
- Talk about the wonderful creations of Allah
- Define and identify naming words (nouns)
- Match naming words with pictures from the immediate environment
- Articulate the sounds of letters of the English alphabet in series
- Recognise that English is written from left to right
- Practise holding a pencil correctly
- Trace familiar words learnt in class
- Demonstrate common conventions of oral interactions to introduce themselves
Day 1: Reading (40 minutes)
Materials
- Textbook pages 7-8, flashcards with pictures of nature (sky, fruits, birds, animals), chart paper
Warm-Up (10 minutes)
- Show students pictures of the sky, fruits, animals, and flowers
- Ask: "Who is the creator of the universe?" and "What do you see around you that Allah has made?"
- Write the word "creation" on the board and explain its meaning
Main Activity (20 minutes)
- Read the poem aloud with correct pronunciation and rhythm:
- "Allah, Allah, Allah, / The Creator of all. / Listen and obey Him, / Obey His call."
- "He created fruits, / Sweet and sour. / We enjoy His blessings, / At every hour."
- "He created day and night, / Light and dark. / Animals of all kinds, / He created you and me too."
- Read each stanza and ask students to repeat after you
- Discuss the meaning of each stanza using pictures
- Ask the while-reading question: "Who created fruits sweet and sour?"
- Ask the post-reading questions: "What do you feel when you see different creatures of Allah?" and "Do you like the poem? Why?"
Wrap-Up (10 minutes)
- Have students recite the poem together as a class
- Ask 2-3 students to name things Allah has created
Differentiation
- Support: Pair struggling readers with stronger peers during recitation
- Extension: Ask advanced students to name five more things Allah has created
Day 2: Reading Comprehension & Grammar (40 minutes)
Materials
- Textbook pages 9-10, flashcards with pictures of pigeon, eagle, lamp, book
Warm-Up (5 minutes)
- Recite the poem together from Day 1
- Quick review: "Who is the creator of all things?"
Main Activity -- Comprehension (15 minutes)
- Work through the comprehension questions orally:
- Who is the creator of the earth?
- Who is the creator of the sun?
- Who created day and night?
- When does a day begin?
- How should we show gratitude to Allah?
- Have students answer in complete sentences
Main Activity -- Naming Words (15 minutes)
- Introduce naming words (nouns): "The names of people, animals, places, or things are called naming words."
- Give examples: boy, cow, city, sun
- Show flashcards: pigeon, eagle, lamp, book
- Have students match each naming word to its picture
- Ask students to name 3 things in the classroom (naming words)
Wrap-Up (5 minutes)
- Review: "What are naming words?" and ask students to give one example each
Differentiation
- Support: Use real objects from the classroom to practise naming words
- Extension: Have students write 3 naming words in their notebooks
Day 3: Writing & Oral Communication (40 minutes)
Materials
- Textbook page 10, lined writing notebooks, pencils
Warm-Up (5 minutes)
- Review naming words with a quick oral quiz
- Show a few objects and ask students to name them
Main Activity -- Tracing (20 minutes)
- Demonstrate correct pencil grip to the class
- Show that English is written from left to right
- Guide students to trace the following words from the textbook:
- Row 1: earth, all, fruits, sky
- Row 2: light, dark, sweet, bird
- Row 3: plants, star, sun, snow
- Row 4: fish, water, ship, moon
- Walk around and check pencil grip and letter formation
Main Activity -- Oral Communication (10 minutes)
- Read and practise the greeting dialogue:
- "Assalaamu Alaikum!" / "Wa Alaikum Assalaam!"
- "I am Ahmad." / "I am Hamid."
- "How are you?" / "I am fine. Thank you!"
- Divide students into pairs and have them practise the dialogue
- Have 2-3 pairs perform in front of the class
Wrap-Up (5 minutes)
- Recap: poem, naming words, and greeting dialogue
- Assign homework: trace the words at home for extra practice
Differentiation
- Support: Provide dotted guidelines for students who struggle with tracing
- Extension: Have advanced students write the words independently without tracing

- Help and encourage students to comprehend and recite the poem with correct pronunciation
