Hello, little friends! Welcome back. Today we are going to learn a new letter. It is the letter k.

Say it with me. k. Well done!

The letter k makes a quick, clicky sound. It goes like this: k, k, k. Can you say it? k, k, k. Super!

Now let us visit a big castle. A castle is a very big house where a king lives.

Look! Who is sitting on the big golden chair? He has a crown on his head. He is a king. Say it with me. King. k, k, king!

Now look who is standing next to the king. It has long ears and big feet. It is a kangaroo. Kangaroos can hop! Say it with me. Kangaroo. k, k, kangaroo! Hop, hop, hop!

Listen to what the picture tells us. A king and a friendly kangaroo are together in a castle!

Let us say it together. A king, and a friendly kangaroo, are together in a castle! Great job!

Now let us meet some more friends that start with the letter k.

Here is a little fruit. It is brown and fuzzy on the outside, and green on the inside. It is a kiwi. Say it with me. Kiwi. k, k, kiwi!

Here is a soft grey animal hugging a branch. It is a koala. Say it with me. Koala. k, k, koala!

And look, here is our friend the king again, with his shiny crown. King!

Let us say all our k words together. King. Kangaroo. Kiwi. Koala. You are wonderful!

Do you know what else starts with the k sound? A key! We use a key to open a door. k, k, key!

Now it is time to write the letter k. Hold up your magic finger. Are you ready?

Put your finger right at the top. Now make a long line straight down, down, down, to the bottom. Stop!

Lift your finger. Now go to the middle of the long line, a little to the side. Slant in to touch the line.

Now slant out, all the way down to the bottom. Stop!

That is the letter k. A long line down, then in, and out.

Let us do it again. Start at the top. Long line down. Lift. In. Out. Well done!

One more time, nice and slow. Long line. In. Out. You made the letter k!

When you open your book, trace the letter k from the red dot at the top. Long line first, then in and out.

Let us remember what we learned today. Our letter is k. The letter k says k, k, k.

We saw a king and a friendly kangaroo together in a castle.

We met a kiwi and a koala.

And we wrote the letter k. A long line down, then in, and out.
