Quick Sort Activity: Write these words on slips of paper. Students sort them into two columns on the board.

Syllable Counting Revision (5 minutes)

Clap and Count:

  • pencil → pen-cil → 2 syllables

  • calculator → cal-cu-la-tor → 4 syllables
  • rainbow → rain-bow → 2 syllables

Rule: Every syllable has one vowel sound. Count the vowel sounds to find the number of syllables.
