Video Script — Unit 4
Classroom Rules
Subject: English | Class: 2 | Series: Leeds (SNC 2020)
Hello, children! Welcome to today's lesson. Today we are going to learn about classroom rules.
Let me tell you a story. It was Ali's first day at school. During break, he was waiting for his turn at the canteen. There he met a boy named Asif.
Ali said, "Assalam-o-Alaikum! I am Ali. I am in class two. I am a newcomer in school."
Asif replied, "Wa Alaikum Assalam! I am Asif. I am also in class two. Nice to meet you. Break is over. Let us go to classroom."
When they reached the classroom, their teacher Miss Alia was there. All the students had taken their seats and were opening their books. Miss Alia said, "Dear students, Ali is here. He is your new classmate. First of all, introduce yourselves and explain the classroom rules to him."
The students greeted Ali and explained the rules one by one.
Samra said, "We follow our teacher's directions."
Omar said, "We keep our classroom neat and clean."
Iqra said, "We make a queue to enter the classroom."
Bilal said, "We work quietly and do not disturb others."
Ahmad said, "We always wait for our turn."
Miss Alia also showed Ali a chart of classroom rules hanging on the wall. Let us read those rules together.
Rule one: Follow your teacher's directions. Rule two: Share your things with others. Rule three: Seek permission to go in or out of the classroom. Rule four: Raise your hand to get permission before asking anything. Rule five: Wait for your turn.
These are very important rules that every student should follow. Following rules makes our classroom a happy and safe place for everyone.
Now let us learn some vocabulary from this lesson.
The word "queue" means a line. When you stand in a line, you are standing in a queue.
The word "greet" means to welcome someone. When you say "Assalam-o-Alaikum" to someone, you are greeting them.
The word "permission" means allowing somebody to do something. Before leaving the classroom, you should ask your teacher for permission.
In this unit, we also learned about parts of the body. Let us name them together. We have a head on top. Above our eyes, we have eyebrows. We see with our eyes. We smell with our nose. We hear with our ears. Our lips are around our mouth. We eat and talk with our mouth. Inside our mouth, there is a tongue. We have arms that connect to our hands. We use our hands to hold things. We stand and walk with our legs. At the end of our legs, we have our feet.
We also practised initial and final sounds of words. The initial sound is the first sound you hear in a word, and the final sound is the last sound. For example, in the word "fat," the initial sound is "f" and the final sound is "t." In the word "help," the initial sound is "h" and the final sound is "p."
Let us quickly review what we learned today. We read the story of Ali's first day at school and how his classmates explained the classroom rules to him. The five rules are: follow your teacher's directions, share your things, seek permission, raise your hand, and wait for your turn. We learned the meanings of queue, greet, and permission. We named twelve parts of the body. And we practised identifying the initial and final sounds of words.
Remember, children — always follow your classroom rules. They help us learn better and be kind to each other.
Thank you for watching, and see you in the next lesson!
