Thank You Allah

Subject: English | Class: 2 | Series: Leeds (SNC 2020)

Hello, children! Welcome to today's lesson. We are going to learn a beautiful poem called "Thank You Allah."

This poem is about being thankful to Allah for all the wonderful things He has created for us. Let us read the poem together.

Thank you Allah, for the world so sweet. Thank you Allah, for the food we eat. Thank you Allah, for the water we drink. Thank you Allah, for the birds that sing. Thank you Allah, for the world so green. Thank you Allah, for the air so fresh. Thank you Allah, for everything.

What a lovely poem! Did you notice that the poem thanks Allah for many things? Let us talk about them.

First, the poem says "the world so sweet." Here, the word "sweet" means beautiful. So it means the world is very beautiful.

Next, the poem says "the food we eat." Food means something we can eat — like rice, bread, fruits, and vegetables. Allah has given us so many delicious foods.

Then, the poem says "the water we drink." We need clean water every day, and Allah gives us that too.

The poem also says "the birds that sing." The word "sing" means to carry a tune with your voice. Birds make beautiful sounds, and that is a blessing from Allah.

Then we read "the world so green." The word "green" here means a fresh and beautiful world — the trees, the grass, and all the plants around us.

The poem says "the air so fresh." We breathe fresh air every day, and that is also a gift from Allah.

Finally, the poem says "Thank you Allah, for everything." This means we should thank Allah for all His blessings — not just the ones in the poem, but everything we have.

Now let us learn some important words from this unit.

Our sight words for this chapter are: and, now, for, the, too, much, land, bank, tail, from. These are words you will see again and again in your reading. Try to remember them.

We also learned about nouns in this unit. A common noun is a general name for a person, animal, place, or thing — like bird, river, or mountain. A proper noun is a specific name — like Karachi, Honda, or Pakistan. Remember, proper nouns always start with a capital letter.

Let us also practise how to introduce ourselves. You can say: "Assalam-o-Alaikum! I am [your name]." And your friend can reply: "Wa Alaikum Assalaam! My name is [their name]." It is good manners to greet people properly.

Let us quickly go over what we learned today. We read the poem "Thank You Allah," which reminds us to be grateful to Allah for the beautiful world, food, water, birds, greenery, fresh air, and everything else. We learned new vocabulary — sweet means beautiful, food means something edible, and sing means to carry a tune. We practised our sight words. We learned the difference between common nouns and proper nouns. And we practised greeting and introducing ourselves.

Remember, children — always be thankful to Allah for all the blessings He has given you.

Thank you for watching, and see you in the next lesson!
